The SBI Accounting Department provides a fully integrated budgetary accounting system designed to comply with SUNY Fiscal and Accounting Procedures for Mandatory Student Activity Fee Programs. In addition to meeting the accounting needs of the corporation itself, SBI contracts with the seven student governments, The Spectrum, and Schussmeister's Ski Club to act as their Fiscal Agent and to provide accounting and management services.
Accounting functions provided are:

- Cash Disbursements
- Accounts Receivable
- Accounts Payable and Encumbrance
- Payroll and Personnel
- General Ledger
- Fixed Assets
- Investment Management
The Accounting Department also monitors compliance with various internally and externally imposed requirements that help to insure the financial integrity and fiscal responsibility of its accounting functions, such as:
- Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Federal, State, and University regulations
- Internal control standards for accounting procedures and personnel
- Recommendations of internal and independent auditors
